The Development of Animal Personality

Although the topic of animal personality has generated much interest in recent years, the role of development is little understood. This collection of papers will deal with the development of animal personality. Topics will include the roles of the genetics and evolution of the development of personality, maternal and paternal effects, the potential role of predation risk, acoustic and visual effects, conspecific effects, and other environmental effects such as temperature. The organisms covered will include invertebrates such as insects, fishes, mammals, reptiles and birds. Contributors will include both beginning and experienced investigators in the field of animal personality. Personality traits to be treated will include aggressiveness, mating selectivity, foraging selectivity, and boldness towards predators, as well as others.
